Tap Dance

Elite Dance Studio’s own Emily Viator and Virginia Mock come to Montessori once a week to teach Tap dance. This lively, rhythmic tapping makes the performer not just a dancer, but also a percussive musician. Tap classes are on Thursdays from 2:30-3:30, for thirty minutes. In May, the Montessori Tappers will have the opportunity to perform at a recital. Tap class provides physical and mental benefits such as a healthier heart and lungs, strong muscles and bones, better coordination, agility and flexibility, improved balance and enhanced spatial awareness and increased physical confidence. The creative and collaborative nature of tap can bring further benefits personally and socially such as improved general and psychological well being, great self-confidence, self-esteem and self awareness, great way to meet/make new friends, better social and communication skills and reduced social isolation and exclusion.
