Visiting the School

We strongly encourage you to visit the school while the students are in session.  Observing the children and teachers in the classroom provides parents and visitors with a more thorough understanding of the advantages of the Montessori teaching method and the Fayetteville Montessori School’s mission statement.

When visiting the school, we recommend touring the facility and observing the classrooms to allow for an easier transition into a new school for yourself and your child. Tours are on Mondays and Thursdays between 8:30 am and 10:00 am during the school year. During the summer tours are between 9:00 am and 11:30 am.  To set up a time for a tour of the school please  email Rhiannon Stafford or call (479) 443 – 7812.

Some things to look for during your visit:

  • Mix of age groups
  • Children carrying out many different types of learning activities within the same environment
  • The children’s freedom to choose any self-teaching activity, as long as it is used constructively
  • The children’s awareness of ground rules for functioning within the class
  • The indirect, rather than central, role of the adults in the classroom
  • The variety of activities which encourage independence, constructive movement, the developing senses and the coordination of mind and body
